Dr. Udan Fernando to speak at Colombo School of Arts ‘Good Start Series’

Last week Colombo School of Arts (CSA) launched the ‘CSA Good Start Series’ at the IIHE Exams Hall – No. 25½, Tower Building, Station Road, Colombo 4. The CSA Good Start Series is a weekly program introduced by CSA. It is offered free of charge to young people and students preparing for their O-Levels and A-Levels.

This week’s program is scheduled for Thursday, 20 November 2014 from 4:15-5:30 p.m. The Speaker will be Dr. Udan Fernando. He is a visiting academic to the Open University of Sri Lanka and the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo and holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam. Dr. Udan Fernando’s chosen topic is ‘How to pass your A-Levels well without going to school, and how to get a PhD while roaming around the streets’ – a must for every student looking for inspiration! CSA, the new international school in Colombo, hopes to commence operations on 6 January 2015. CSA is affiliated to the Imperial Institute of Higher Education (IIHE) – Sri Lanka’s only institute that is directly associated with the prestigious University of Wales (UK) offering BSc and MBA degree programs. The CSA Good Start Series promotes learning beyond the curriculum. It is very much in line with CSA’s overall plan for their students. The school is dedicated to nurturing students’ natural curiosity and passion for learning CSA Principal Shaleeka Jayalath is looking forward to having maximum student participation at these sessions every week. “These sessions are in line with our mission for the school which is to empower and inspire students, by providing them with a holistic education,” she stated.
