Dr. Kodituwakku new Chairman at NIBM, NSBM

Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku, a renowned scholar, administrator and diplomat, assumed duties as the new chairman of National School of Business Management (NSBM) and National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) with effect from February 2015. He has been trained in the discipline of Economics both locally and internationally with a Bachelor’s degree from University of Kelaniya and Post Graduate qualifications from University of New England, Australia. He was also a long-standing academic of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura who proceeded to become its Vice Chancellor and served it with distinction during the period 1983-1988. Thereafter, Dr. Kodituwakku served as the Ambassador in Japan and South Korea and was an Executive Board Member of UNESCO from 2003 – 2004. He also served as the Additional Secretary and Director of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Employment from 1979 – 1987. In addition to being the Chairman of GSMB in 1993, he was the Governor of North Western Province from 1993 – 1994. In recognition of the distinguished services he rendered in public life, Dr. Kodituwakku received a number of prestigious awards: the Golden Friendship Key (1988) from the   Government of the Tokyo Metropolis; the Japan Foundation Fellowship (1993) from the Japan Foundation, an international award from Korea for the promotion of excellent bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Korea, and the Australian Alumni Excellence Award (2012). Moreover, his service as the cabinet minister for Human Resource Development, Education and Cultural Affairs from 2001 – 2003 is praiseworthy.
