The Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) to provide its members comprising of business entrepreneurs a means to cater to their professional needs through an awareness program of best practices, learning and development, similar interventions and to promote excellence in board room governance.
The agreement entails the delivering of SLID’s proprietary Board Leadership Director Certification Program based on the material developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Global Corporate Governance Forum accredited by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka. It provides key insights, valuable tools and frameworks that can be applied to improve Board performance and decision making.
“The partnership entered into between our two organisations signifies a mutual interest in the goal of advancing and transforming the economic and social development of the country. We can achieve even more together, and are looking forward to positive gains this program will deliver by strengthening our partnership for common growth,” said COYLE Chairman Kasun Rajapaksa.
“We are pleased to take this step forward alongside leaders we regard as partners and friends and we look forward to the opportunity to build upon the mutual knowledge and experience, as we recommit to the vision of promoting innovation and fostering economic competitiveness. The agreement outlines the organisations’ intent to work together as a team in a knowledge based environment to deliver topics such as Corporate Governance, Strategic Leadership, Financial Stewardship and Accountability. By collaborating more closely, the two organisations hope to strengthen the business potential of its members with a view towards future economic progress,” he concluded.
COYLE is committed to the vision of safeguarding the country’s economy and the Sri Lankan business community by playing a vital role of national importance, emphasised by its theme, ‘Recognition through Excellence’. The Chamber also promotes entrepreneurship in the rehabilitation and development initiatives of the Government and international economic development of the country.
