The Johnson School of Management at Cornell University is offering experiential learning program intended for senior managers and leaders in Colombo from 16-18 September to a limited number of participants.
The program ‘Strategic Leadership’ focuses on enhancing a leader’s capability to think strategically about their business and deliver additional value to the organisation through new strategic thinking. The three-day program would be the first Ivy League leadership/strategy program to be offered in Sri Lanka.
Program Lead will be Professor Michael Hostetler, who is a lecturer in management and organizations at the Samuel Curtis Johnson School of Management at Cornell University. Professor Hostetler’s main research and teaching interests are in strategy, decision making, leadership, high performance teams and change management.
He has taught classes in MBA program, Executive MBA program and the Cornell/Queen’s Boardroom MBA program as well as many Executive Education programs. Hostetler is also responsible for the development of custom Executive Programs at Johnson and has designed programs for a variety of international companies including Citi Group, Sara Lee, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, Hyundai, etc.
Professor Hostetler is active in the development of the Global Executive Education through the University Consortium for the Executive Education (UNICON) and the International Consortium for Executive Development Research (ICEDR). He is an emeritus trustee of UNICON.
On 18 Friday evening, Prof Hostetler will conduct a short thought provoking session on ‘Innovation: How to thrive in a
Turbulent World’. During this session Prof Hostetler will discuss the evolution of the global economy and how companies are using innovation to stay competitive. He will introduce the five sources of corporate innovation and ask the audience to assess their company’s current and potential ability to use one of more of these sources.
