A group of SharePoint developers gathered at the Galadari hotel, on 18 September, for the 2ndannual SharePoint Camp, organized by the Colombo SharePoint Communitywith the sponsorship of 99X Technology (www.99xtechnology.com)
This event, which was free of charge to all participants, gave local SharePoint Developers the opportunity to compare notes with people who share the same passion, as well as to pick the brains ofrenowned SharePoint specialists from Puzzlepart Norway, Mads H. Nissen (CTO), Mikael Svenson (Consultant and a Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professional) and Ole Kristian Morch-Storstein (Consultant).
Mikael, Kristian and Mads joined forces with local specialists, to give expert analysis on various topics, ranging from the benefits of Search with SharePoint, to the use of SharePoint in today’s mobile environment. Mads discussed how apps on SharePoint could disrupt the traditional enterprise software.
In addition to the valuable knowledge gained from this event, up for grabs was an Xbox 360 along with a Kinect, and copies of the very informative book written by Mikael Svenson, “Working with Microsoft Fast Search Server 2010 for SharePoint”.
There were over 350 registrations for the eventbut, due to seating limitations, only a selected few were chosen to attend the event. However, recognizing that this was a very good opportunity for SharePoint developers to gain knowledge, a live feed was set up for those unable to attend. Their questions were asked via Social Media, and answered during the Q&A session in the end.
The Colombo SharePoint Camp (www.colombosharepointcamp.com) is just one of a series of workshops organized by the Colombo SharePoint Camp Community.
The main goal was to synergize the Sri Lankan SharePoint community to face future challenges in the SharePoint arena, and to bring together likeminded people to help empower them.
Previously this year, the Colombo SharePoint Camp community held another camp, bringing in the renowned SharePoint Developer, and author of the best selling “Building the SharePoint User Experience”, BjørnFuruknap. Following the success of that camp, and due to the need to improve the competency and professionalism of the Sri Lankan IT industry, this camp was organized.
The Colombo SharePoint Camp community is an independent community founded by dedicated IT professionals;all brought together with the common vision of improving the skills of local IT professionals.
