The Colombo School of Arts will launch the CSA Good Start Series on Thursday, 13 November at the IIHE Exams Hall. It will be a one-hour presentation by Psychology lecturer Fahad Al Hatim, who has a BSc. in Psychology from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in the US. He is also a counsellor at Pearl Medical Services. Al Hatim’s topic for his presentation will be ‘What on earth is Psychology? And, how it can help in ways you never imagined’. The discussion will introduce Psychology, bust popular myths, explore different approaches in Psychology and examine how they are relevant in daily life. The CSA Good Start Series, introduced by the Colombo School of Arts, is a very simple plan offered free of charge to young people and students preparing for their O/Levels and A/Levels. CSA hopes that parents and students will take advantage of the free sessions by participating in them on a weekly basis. The CSA Good Start Series will conduct a session at the same time on Thursdays, with an interesting line-up of speakers and relevant topics. The Colombo School of Arts (CSA), a new international school in Colombo, hopes to commence operations on 6 January, 2015. CSA is affiliated to the Imperial Institute of Higher Education (IIHE), Sri Lanka’s only institute that is directly associated with the prestigious University of Wales (UK) offering BSc and MBA degree programs. The school, which is gearing up to deliver a comprehensive teaching methodology to students preparing for their Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) O-Level and A-Level programs, is convinced that the introduction of the CSA Good Start Series, which promotes learning beyond the curriculum, is very much in line with CSA’s overall plan for their students. CSA Principal Shaleeka Jayalath is looking forward to having maximum student participation at these sessions every week. “These sessions are in line with our mission for the school which is to empower and inspire students by providing them with a holistic education. We believe that excellence in education is achieved most readily when high academic standards and enthusiasm for learning are both present in the school environment. Therefore we are dedicated to nurturing our students’ natural curiosity and passion for learning,” she stated. Those who wish to book their free participation at the CSA Good Start Series can call 0114383996.
