CIMA Regional Director – Middle East, South Asia and North Africa Bradley Emerson and Wayamba University Vice Chancellor Professor S.J.B.A. Jayasekera signing the MOU
CIMA Sri Lanka signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Accountancy, Wayamba University recently. Under this agreement, undergraduates and graduates of BSc in Accounting from the university are entitled to a range of exemptions, which include registration at a discounted price, exemption fee waiver and a waiver of the CIMA subscription fee for the duration of their candidature at the university.
At a time with Sri Lanka has been given another opportunity for economic development, the collaboration of an international professional body and an esteemed national university will help transform the national ability to global capability.
Commenting on the MOU, CIMA Regional Director – Middle East, South Asia and North Africa Bradley Emerson elaborated, “The ultimate objective of any educational institution is to deliver human talent towards output. Therefore output ought to be aligned to the external demands, so the output of any education system is not wasted. In a global playing field, if we do not provide our youth with global skills, we as a nation will fail. In this context, we are grateful to the open-mindedness of the faculty and students of Wayamba University working with us towards this MOU.”
Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor S.J.B.A. Jayasekera stated, “The new partnership between the university and CIMA would give our degree programs, especially the program in accountancy, a boost and recognition. The students would be benefitted immensely and opportunities for their career development would increase. Further, this would also pave way for our students to get professionally qualified and improve the skills required to perform better and excel in their professional life in a competitive job market.”
