CIMA Case Study Awards 2011 tonight

The ‘CIMA Case Study Awards 2011’ is a new initiative taken by CIMA to keep their graduates fresh and progressive in their careers, whilst facilitating cross-company learning and knowledge sharing among Sri Lankan businesses.

Beginning of this year CIMA members were invited to submit a case study by identifying and narrating a specific real-life occurrence within the organisation that they are employed under a preferred theme relating to one of the topics given by CIMA. Some of these popular picks included change management, sustainability, performance management, enterprise risk management, finance transformation, enterprise governance, supply chain management and process excellence.

This inaugural competition was well received by the CIMA members and the business community leading to the participation of members representing a variety of industries such as garments, KPO and BPO, banking and financial services, retail sector and public sector. Amba Research Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., Bodyline (Pvt) Ltd., Ceylon Electricity Board, Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Limited, Hatton National Bank PLC, HNB Assurance PLC, Hemas Holdings PLC, Holcim (Lanka) Ltd., Kandalama Hotels Ltd., Lanka Organics (Pvt) Ltd., MAS Holdings, Seylan Bank PLC, Stax Inc - Colombo, Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd. and WNS Global Services Ltd. are the companies that took up the challenge to submit their organisational case study narrations.

The case studies with assessed and adjudged by an eminent panel of judges representing the academia and the business sector. The distinguished panel was chaired and moderated by Professor Uditha Liyanage, Director, PIM, and comprised of Dr. Travis Perera, Senior Consultant, PIM, Manil Jayesinghe, Partner, Ernest & Young, Malinga Arsakularatne, CFO, Hemas Holdings PLC and Muditha Ferdinando, Director - Lean Systems, MAS Active Trading (Pvt) Ltd.

The winners of this inaugural competition will be recognised and awarded at the Awards Night today at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel.

Tonight’s programme will also feature the highlights of the case study submitted by the winning team including the background to their case and the learning to the wider business community, and the event will conclude with fellowship cocktails.

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd. joined CIMA as the Strategic partner for this event, and LBO-LBR as the Official business media partner, E-fm as the Official radio partner and The Sunday Leader as the print media sponsor.
