Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) President Sujeewa Rajapakse who was a special guest at the International Conference organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) held in Mumbai provided some insightful thoughts on the importance of professionalism as a tool for economic growth.
A seasoned chartered accountant, Rajapakse provided valuable inputs on how professionals including chartered accountants can help steer a nation’s economic growth during the second session of the conference.
The three day conference which was held under the theme ‘Accountancy Profession: Enablers of Economic Growth’ also saw some top accounting leaders from the accounting world including Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) President Mark Spofforth, CPA Australia Executive General Manager Rob Thomson, and International Accounting Standards Board, Board Member Prabhakar Kalavacherla.
Rajapakse joined his fellow counterparts from ICA India, ICA Nepal and ICA Bangladesh in underscoring at a country level how accountants can be an important tool towards helping drive the economic development of a nation. The CA Sri Lanka President’s observations were well received at the international conference.
He was also honoured with a special plaque in appreciation of his participation at the ICAI International Conference held in Mumbai.
