Brown & Company recognised for business excellence and HR practices

From its humble beginnings way back in 1875, Brown & Company PLC (Browns), has since then grown exponentially as an organisation in strength and stability. 

The unstinted commitment and dedication to constantly strive for excellence and the positive approach to never having taken for granted the trust and loyalty of generations of Sri Lankans placed in Browns, has resulted in the fruition of winning prestigious, internationally recognised awards and Browns establishing a distinctive mark among top contenders in a highly competitive corporate world.

The Employer Branding Institute has recognised Brown & Company PLC as an achiever in ‘Asia’s Best Employer’ category. Co-hosted by the World HRD Congress and Stars of the Industry Group, with CHRO Asia as a strategic partner and endorsed by Asian Confederation of Business, Browns was presented with ‘The Asia Best Employer Brand’ award at the award ceremony held in October this month at Waters Edge, Colombo.  

The main objective of the Employer Branding Institute is to research and recognise Employers who; Create a culture of contribution and innovation at work, Believe in consistent improvement in HR policies, Being a Social employer, Developing future leaders, to name a few.

The organisation’s HR Division won the ‘Best HR Practices’ accolade at the South Asian Partnership Summit (SAPS) & Business Awards at a distinguished event held at Waters Edge in Colombo recently. The SAPS ceremony also co-hosted by World HRD Congress had more than 200 Senior Leaders, as well as bureaucrats from various Countries. The event covers Political, Social, Economic, Financial and Corporate leaders from South Asian Countries. The SAPS mission is to provide a platform to establish the standards of excellence for quality development and to honour the people and organisations responsible for developing the most effective actions that exemplify that excellence.

Sharing his sentiments, Paduma Subasinghe, Senior Vice President Group HR stated: “At Browns, we strive on instilling in our employees a culture whereby, each and every individual adopts an innovation driven mind-set.
