Aviva NDB Award of Excellence presented to Prof. J,B Disanayaka

The AVIVA NDB Award of Excellence was presented to Emeritus Professor Deshamanya J.B Disanayaka, a leading authority of the Sinhala language at the recent annual sales convention held to recognise and reward the company’s top performers. Eminent persons who have taken the nation’s art and culture to greater heights are felicitated at the annually held sales convention to reaffirm AVIVA NDB’s commitment to excellence. The company presents the award to distinguished persons whose achievements are a source of encouragement and inspiration to Aviva NDB Wealth Planners in their quest to accomplish ambitious goals.

Prof. J.B Disanayaka received a Fulbright Scholarship to the University of California, Berkley to read for a Masters in Linguistics and obtained a PhD from the University of Colombo. He has had a long teaching career of over 40 years as a lecturer at the University of Colombo and served as the Head of the Department of Sinhala prior to his retirement. He was Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Thailand.

Prof. Disanayaka has authored a considerable number of books on linguistics, culture and history in not only Sinhala but in English as well, which are used as reference material by academics and students.
