attune Lanka Ltd., a global consulting services provider specialising in SAP solutions for fashion and lifestyle brands, announced the signing of an MOU with the University of Kelaniya, to launch a diploma in ERP which specialises in SAP, the leading tier one ERP solution globally. Through this partnership, attune will provide first-hand knowledge of leading ERP practices used by global companies and will collaborate with the department to co-develop course content and conduct lectures.
The diploma is initially aimed at undergraduates from the University of Kelaniya with the intention of opening it up to other external students in the future. The first batch which included 80 students from the university completed the course at the end of January, with the next batch scheduled to start towards the latter part of March. Commenting at the signing of the MOU, Dr. Bandara Wanninayake, the Head of the Department of Marketing Management (DMM), University of Kelaniya – the sole ‘SAP University Alliance’ partner in Sri Lanka offering Diploma in ERP (DERP) said, “We are happy to announce the partnership with attune in delivering blended learning via DERP to internal and external learners.”
“ With this partnership attune comes on board as our key delivery partner of DERP – making ERP based learning a reality via collaborative delivery of academia cum industry experts disseminating the content of DERP in the right context. From the inception of the DERP in 2014, attune has been a steadfast partner in facilitating the delivery as our core industry partner in making ERP based teaching and learning a reality. It is also noteworthy that attune’s initiative with DERP went beyond supporting but rather ‘an ownership taking CSR venture’, and with this MOU signing DMM expect a lasting relationship in ‘crafting ERP enabled strategist’ in keeping with the vision of DMM,” he added.
attune will contribute in the development of course material, case studies and conducting of lectures for diploma students. The diploma aims to provide an in-depth understanding of how business functions are integrated through ERP systems through course modules such as introduction of ERP as well as SAP, sales and distribution supply chain management, project management and practical aspects of ERP implementations.
In addition, the diploma aims at helping students to work in collaboration with organisations, get hands-on experience by working in an ERP environment. The diploma will also utilise the SAP University Alliance Program (SAP-UAP), a global initiative by SAP AG, which DMM is already a member.
“ERP consultants, specifically in SAP are highly sought after globally and have excellent career opportunities,” said attune Chief Operating Officer Hiranjan de Silva. “We have seen a lack of specialised programs that provide ERP specific content. Through this initiative in collaboration with the University of Kelaniya, DMM, our intention is to provide industry relevant skills and develop high-calibre individuals capable of competing in a global ERP arena.”
