The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Sri Lanka, the largest and fastest growing global professional accountancy body in the world, with its mission to promote excellence in the sphere of higher education is now offering exemptions for members of other professional accountancy qualifications.
One such program launched recently, is a special exemptions scheme targeted exclusively for passed finalists and members of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL). ACCA has always recognised prior learning and has accredited the ICASL syllabus and awards exemptions up to nine papers for students who have completed their CA Qualification.
KPMG Sri Lanka Head of Audit Suren Rajakarier stated, “The exemption is a good opportunity for CA passed finalists and members to have access to greater career options through a qualification that is respected, recognised and recommended around the world.”
Under this exemption scheme, CA passed finalists and members will have the opportunity of adding more value to their existing qualification through gaining the globally accredited ACCA qualification. The scheme entails the exemption fee being waived off for all nine ACCA papers. In addition £ 59 will also be waived off from the Initial Registration fee enabling CA members having to pay only £ 20.
To claim the exemptions, passed finalists and member will need to send official proof of their qualifications, such as academic transcripts and award certificates along with their registration form so that ACCA can assess their eligibility for the exemptions.
ACCA Sri Lanka Head Nilusha Ranasinghe added, “We are an international UK accounting body that has accepted CA Sri Lanka qualification for the purpose of granting exemptions. By doing so, our aim is to open a window of opportunity for locally qualified accountants to continue their education and better their career prospects, by pursuing a globally renowned professional qualification which is flexible and accessible to all.”
She further affirmed that ACCA Sri Lanka will continue to work closely with accountancy professions in the country to share views and to work towards the development of the accountancy profession in the country through mutual co-operation.
