ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) recently awarded Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CTC) with the Approved Employer status for Professional Development.
ACCA’s prestigious global program is awarded to employers who meet high standards of education and training for their staff and commit to their ongoing development. It has also been designed to help employers derive maximum value from ACCA students, affiliates and members. This recognition means that the company has demonstrated its commitment to providing Continuing Professional Development (CDP) in Accounting and Finance and facilitated training opportunities for the development of professional and trainee accountants on their staff.
Speaking on this recognition, CTC Managing Director and CEO Felicio Ferraz said, “As a leading corporate in Sri Lanka, we are indeed proud of this recognition, especially in light of the emphasis we place on training and professional development of our employees. We believe being certified as an Approved Employer of ACCA will further reinforce our position as one of Sri Lanka’s most preferred employers.”
CTC now joins an elite group of employers around the world who will gain access to specialised services offered by ACCA for approved employers. Amongst these would be services designed to support the recruitment, development and retention of finance professionals that includes access to ACCA’s global conference series and research programs on managing human capital as well as other employer training products and service.
“ACCA is globally known for their high training quality standards. The recognition is a great honour and takes this partnership to the next level. It’s fully in line with our commitment to develop employees and continue our responsibility as one of the preferred employers in Sri Lanka. What excites me most is that ACCA was open to explore the development of round table discussions to better connect the finance teams of leading companies. This gives great exposure to not only discuss contemporary business topics but also to better understand the challenges and best practices of other industries. As CTC we are proud to host the first of hopefully many more to come sessions,” said CTC Finance Director Stephan Matthiesen.
ACCA Sri Lanka Head NilushaRanasinghe said, “The ACCA Approved Employer Status is all about demonstrating a commitment to employees’ development needs on a regular and sustained basis. Organisations who proactively develop their employees not only build a reputation for being excellent employers, they are also helping to protect their long-term reputation through the development of highly effective staff.”
“Our team is looking forward to working with Ceylon Tobacco in a number of areas including presentations and workshops for trainees; continuing professional development, networking and other events and support and help Learning and Development. This will serve the company well in the future as it continues to develop the capabilities of its finance staff,” she added.
