The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has recently awarded GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Sri Lanka, with the Approved Employer status for Professional Development. GSK now joins an elite group of employers to gain access to specialised services offered by ACCA. These include services to support the recruitment, development and retention of finance professionals. This also allows GSK access to ACCA’s global conference series and research programs on managing human capital among other training products and services.
ACCA President Datuk Alexandra Chin presented the Approved Employer certificate to GSK Director of Finance Sanje Gunasekera. Also present from ACCA was Nilusha Ranasinghe, (Head – Sri Lanka) and Ruchera Jayawardena, (Business Development Manager – Employers).
GSK has always been recognised as a strong Employer brand. This recognition further validates the company’s commitment towards institutionalising best practices and international standards. This is also significant step towards providing Continuing Professional Development (CDP) in Accounting and Finance.
GSK Director of Finance Sanje Gunasekera stated, “Right talent in the right place drives organisation performance. We at GSK recognise this and are keenly working to ensure that across the organisation we have the right people with the suitable skill set. We believe it is important to nurture young talent as they are our future leaders. We are proud of this recognition which is a great step in this direction.”
ACCA Sri Lanka Head Nilusha Ranasinghe lauded GSK and said, “The ACCA Approved Employer Status is all about demonstrating a commitment to employees’ development needs on a regular and sustained basis. Organisations who proactively develop their employees not only build a reputation for being excellent employers, they are also helping to protect their long-term reputation through the development of highly effective staff. We are looking forward to working with GSK in a number of areas for continuing professional development and networking to support and help the learning and development of their staff in finance.
The ACCA Approved Employer scheme is a 360 degree solution for recruitment, retention and development of Accounting and Finance professionals. It has also been designed to help employers derive maximum value from ACCA students, affiliates and members and is presented to employers who meet high standards of education and training for their staff and commit to their ongoing development.
