A new PhD batch at PIM

The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) commenced its Ph.D. in Business and Public Administration programmes – 2016 recently.  The new batch of 22 doctoral students would strengthen the PIM’s research component with those who are already undergoing such programmes. 

Professor Ajantha S. Dharmasiri, Director, PIM, in his welcome address spoke of ‘Why Ph.D. at the PIM’. He emphasised the need to be intellectually interactive in committing oneself to a deep devoted learning.

Professor P. M. S. Gunaratne, Vice Chairman, University Grants Commission, delivering the keynote address highlighted the achievements of the PIM in the country’s postgraduate studies, and especially the quality maintained in its programmes. He wished the PIM in its continuing journey towards excellence. He also stressed the importance of doing a proper doctorate with rigorous research. 

Professor J. A. S. K. Jayakody. Head, Research Centre, PIM, spelt out the special features of the PIM’s Ph.D. programmes. Haren Gunawardena, Doctoral candidate, PIM, shared his experiences of doing Ph.D. at the PIM. Dr. A. K .L. Jayawardana, Senior Consultant, PIM, proposed the vote of thanks. Sakunthala Durairatnam, Consultant, PIM, compered the programme.
