Graduation of the previous batch
The ‘Speaker in You’ is a program designed to assist corporate executives and higher education students in developing their public speaking and presentation skills, particularly in their respective settings. The next batch will begin on Wednesdays and Fridays, 26 and 28 May. The sessions will run from 6 p.m. to 900 p.m., with some taking place via Zoom and others on-site.
Whether a corporate executive or a higher education student wishes to advance his or her personal growth, take the business to the next level, or inspire, persuade, and motivate others, he or she must be able to communicate his or her ideas in a clear, structured, and captivating manner to a group of people. This program will teach them how to deliver those enthralling speeches through a series of carefully selected lessons and speech projects.
Twelve three-hour sessions will be used to teach the skills. Each session will include instruction and practice in public speaking, as well as the opportunity to learn from other experienced speakers.
The skills will be taught and practiced in a friendly, non-threatening environment. Each batch will consist of no more than eight to ten participants. They will learn alongside others who have the same objective as they do. Advisors who once shuddered at the prospect of public speaking but have successfully developed their public speaking abilities will guide them along the experiential learning path. There are no lecturers or professors; only experienced speakers who have walked in your shoes.
Additionally, this program is designed to provide numerous opportunities for students to acquire and develop the skills necessary to be an effective and confident public speaker. It is structured around a series of twenty-four 20-30 minute lessons delivered by advisors on topics such as ‘Exhibiting confidence when speaking in public,’ ‘Visual elements of public speaking,’ and ‘Writing and presenting a proposal.’ Along with these sessions, there are additional activities that are more engaging and provide opportunities for hands-on learning. These include the seven prepared speeches delivered by the participants, classroom exercises, and speaker-advisor discussions.
To help you better understand what ‘Speaker in You’ is all about, two free introductory sessions will be held on Zoom on 26 and 28 May at 7 p.m. Please contact Dr. Prabath Karunanayake, Course Director, at 0776 956 701 or [email protected] for additional information.
