Senior officers get authentic flavour of Japan through PIM’s international program

The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) conducted its first international management program in

Japan jointly with the International University of Japan (IUJ). This pioneering program revolved around

public sector management with the lessons from Japan with its authentic blend of tradition and technology.

The participants while learning the conceptual and theoretical aspects of management in the lecture room sessions, were also brought into contact with public and private sector management experts in Japan. Participants had the

opportunity to visit the Parliament of Japan (National Diet of Japan), Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly,

Kanazawa Recyclable Resource Center and Plant, Niigata Prefectural Agricultural College, Edo-Tokyo Musuem,

Tsubame Industrial Materials Museum, Tojiro hand-made and fully automated knife plants, Port Museum and Nippon Maru.

The program was in line with the PIM’s strategic partnership building initiated by PIM Director Prof.

Ajantha S. Dharmasiri. Prof. Dharmasiri himself joined the inaugural program in Japan. The

program, in its entirety was coordinated by PIM Faculty Member and Management

Consultant Dilhan V. Goonetilleke.
