Senior journalist Randima Attygalle won the award for print media at the ninth edition of Top 50 Professional and Career Women Awards (Sri Lanka and Maldives) held last Friday at the Shangri-La Colombo.
Organised by Women in Management (WIM) in partnership with IFC, a member of the World Bank Group and the Government of Australia, the awards scheme honoured 50 top professional women who have excelled in their chosen professions by seizing opportunities and overcoming challenges.
Randima’s award for print media was in recognition of her versatility as a journalist covering a broad spectrum of subjects ranging from socio-cultural issues, current affairs, legal issues, trade and commerce, health and wellness, art, culture and heritage, architecture, literature to religion.
She had also been recognised by the Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka winning the Best English Feature Writer of the Year on several occasions for her ‘stylish and informative contributions on diverse subjects’. She is also a three-time recipient of Excellence in Health Journalism award presented by the Sri Lanka Medical Association for her ‘outstanding contribution to health journalism in Sri Lanka’. Randima is also a qualified lawyer.
