Globalisation, digital technology, ‘socially created information’ and a new demographic that is driving mass collaboration and transparency are four dominant forces which are reshaping the 21st century. This, together with increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA) have challenged organisations and professionals to rethink their strategies if they are to succeed in the current context and be ready for future challenges.
Organisations and professionals across Sri Lanka are also increasingly facing these challenges which has now become a global phenomenon. The executive education arm of PricewaterhouseCoopers Sri Lanka, PwC’s Academy was established with the primary goal of improving the knowledge, skills, competence and expertise of professionals in finance and business. In recent years, PwC’s Academy has been taking the lead in offering Sri Lankan professionals world class executive education programs, to help them succeed in the 21st century.
In continuing this objective, PwC’s Academy has once again organised a two-day intensive program on ‘Leading in the Digital Age – How to become a mindful leader in the 21st century’. The program will help business leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs inculcate critical skills relevant for the 21st century and equip them with the expertise to remain relevant and significant in order to lead their organisation successfully.
The two-day workshop to be held on 18 and 19 March will be conducted by highly sought-after corporate trainer Mark Stuart, who will help participants to transform into mindful leaders and ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in the 21st century. Mark would shed light on how the current landscape is changing the demands placed on leaders and how they could incorporate mindfulness in order to make better decisions, influence employees better and drive their organisation towards an innovation centric culture.
Mark is a corporate trainer who trains over 150 government agencies, organisations, and corporate clients in innovation and leadership. He has over 15 years of international management and investment banking experience in the UK, Australia and Asia for Morgan Stanley, Schroders, Goldman Sachs, Abbey National and Salomon Brothers. In these roles, he was a Global and Regional department director, and managed teams from Singapore, China, India and Japan. He has also led large award-winning international teams across three continents, and is a leadership and executive coach for SME business leaders in Asia.
During the program, Mark will help participants gain an understanding on how VUCA is causing shifts in the way businesses operate in the 21st century, and help them understand the role of mindful leadership and guide them on how to become a mindful leader. The program will help participants develop their emotional intelligence and increase self-awareness, and they will also be given an EQ assessment of 40 questions aimed at measuring their EQ.
The workshop will be the perfect platform for professionals and entrepreneurs to develop the most crucial skills to succeed in the 21st century including complex problem solving, critical thinking skills, adaptability and agility. The participants will also take home important tools that can enhance their strategic decision-making, while developing an innovative mindset and an understanding on how to inculcate design thinking in their day to day work operations.
The programme will be held at the Hilton Colombo from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be beneficial to BU Heads, senior managers, managers, professionals progressing into leadership positions and business professionals and entrepreneurs who would like to sharpen and strengthen their leadership skills.
