Secretary to the President of Sri Lanka and PIM alumnus Austin Fernando addressing the gathering at PIM’s MPA Inauguration
The Postgraduate Institute of Management commenced another Master of Public Administration (MPA) programme for 36 officers of the public sector recently. Secretary to the President of Sri Lanka and PIM alumnus Austin Fernando, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, said that the value of PIM’s MBA and MPA programmes could be gauged by PIM alumni who thrive in their respective spheres of activity.
Director General of Health Services and PIM alumnus Dr. Anil Jasinghe, attending the occasion as the Guest of Honour, said that selection to his current position could be directly attributed to the MPA programme he followed at PIM. PIM Director Prof. Ajantha S. Dharmasiri said in his inaugural address that it is PIM’s duty and responsibility to develop public sector officials who serve the country’s core as well as regional administrative centres. He stressed the significance of outreach to the peripheries through the “M-learning” platform. PIM Visiting Faculty member Lalith Weeratunga spoke on the importance of communication to public sector administrators. PIM Senior Faculty member Dr. Lloyd Fernando delivered the vote of thanks.
