The Inauguration of NSBM Alumni Association and first Annual General Meeting, NSBM Alumni Get-Together followed by dinner and networking and entertainment were held on Friday, 21 September at NSBM Green University Town, Pitipana, Homagama. This event was open for all passed-out students of NSBM and affiliated universities.
NSBM Alumni community is a global network of over 6,000 individuals across multiple countries and continues to grow annually. NSBM Green University Town together with NSBM Alumni Association plan to offer many benefits to its passed-out students, including platforms for interacting with fellow NSBM graduates, lecturers and NSBM Green University Town, career/professional development support via NSBM Career Guidance Service, privileges on postgraduate studies, events for networking, and publicity for their achievements.
The Guest Speech of the event was done by IFS R&D Director – Human Resources and Process Development Pubudu Liyanage, under the theme ‘Employer’s perspective of graduate employees and behaviours that help in succeeding career’.
Appointment of the Office Bearers of the Association and conducting first Annual General Meeting was held under the guidance of J. Baratha Dodankotuwa who represented the Patrons of the NSBM Alumni Association. These office bearers included the President and two Vice-Presidents, General Secretary and Deputy General Secretary, National Organiser and International Organiser, Finance Secretary and Deputy Finance Secretary, Internal Audit Officer, Editor and Sub-Editor, Liaison Officer of NSBM, Secretaries for Membership Affaires, Special Projects, Professional Development and Finance Standing Committees and Twelve Executive Committee Members who will be the founding pillars of the Association.
Kavindu Narathota, the newly appointed President of the NSBM Alumni Association addressed the gathering during the AGM and highlighted the importance of an Alumni Association for Professional Networking and invited all passed-out students of NSBM and affiliated universities to join hand for the success of the future affairs of the Association.
NSBM Chairman P. Ranepura, members of the Patrons of NSBM Alumni Association, academic and non-academic members of NSBM and other distinguished invitees were among the participants.
NSBM Green University Town is a Government-owned fully pledged University Town built on a 26 acres premise at Homagama. It has over 9,000 on-campus students at the moment which will record the highest student population among the state and private universities by the end of this year. NSBM offers UGC approved and foreign undergraduate and post-graduate programs in three streams namely Business Management, Computing and Engineering.
