Sri Lanka’s leading integrated financial service provider HNB Finance celebrated Women’s Month through its annual Women’s Day programs held under the theme ‘Women’s Rights and her Role in a Family’ at the Village Hotel in Biyagama.
The annual event, one of the many extensive CSR initiatives undertaken by the financial services provider, sought to create a social platform for women to discuss women’s rights in addition to creating awareness of the multi-faceted roles played by women from being a wife, a mother and friend.
“Women consist of 51% of the population in Sri Lanka and we believe that empowering them to create, own and run businesses will add invaluable growth potential to the country’s economy. We organise these programs annually to create a much-needed platform for discussions to be held and we are certain that the knowledge disseminated through these initiatives have added significant value to the business of our clients,” HNB Finance Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Chaminda Prabath said.
Women entrepreneurs working with HNB Finance over the years were also recognised for their contribution to the industry and the country while 100 women entrepreneurs also participated in the discussions held over the course of the day.
HNB Finance Deputy General Manager Annesley Fernando attended the event as Chief Guest, together with the HNB Finance Kaduwela Branch Manager, Children and Women’s Bureau Head Office OIC Niroshan Rupesinghe and HNB Finance Officers from main branches across the country. The event was organised in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Child and Women’s Bureau OIC (Public Relations) IP Praveen Deshaka Manoj Samarasinghe. Talented local artists Sumith Mandanayake also sang at the event. Established in 2000, HNB Finance is licensed as a registered Finance Company by the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Maintaining an extensive island-wide presence across 48 branches and 21 service centres with 650 ATM machines, HNB Finance has over the recent past expanded into new fields of business and now offers Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) loans in addition to savings, gold loans, fixed deposits facilities and leasing products.
