Great Place to Work, global people analytics and consulting firm, announces the 2019 Best Workplaces in Asia list. More than 1,200 organisations participated in the assessment process, representing the voices of more than 1.6 million employees across eight countries. These Best Workplaces know that treating all employees as equally-valued members is not just great for the people who work there – it’s great for business, too.
These 75 recognised organisations are leading the way in creating workplaces that are great not just for some – but great for all. Top winners this year include multinational transport behemoth DHL, online streaming service Hulu, and multinational hospitality giant Hilton, to name a few.
Great Place to Work identifies the top organisations that create great workplaces in the Asia and Middle East regions through publishing the annual Best Workplaces in Asia list. The list recognises organisations in three size categories: Best 25 in Small and Medium (20-499); Best 25 in Large (500+); and Best 25 in Multinational. To be considered for inclusion, organisations must appear on one or more national lists in the eight countries represented on the Asia list (Greater China, India, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka and UAE) and meet the global quantitative thresholds and eligibility criteria required. The data used in the calculation of the regional list comes from national lists published in 2018 and early 2019.
DHL (Keells) Ltd. contributed to DHL Asia’s ranking as the No: 1 Best Workplace on the Best Multinational Workplaces category of the Asia List, which had 11 entries ranked on national lists across Asia. Hayleys Advantis company, Mountain Hawk Express Ltd. (Licensee of Federal Express) was one of three entities that contributed to FedEx entering the Multinational List in Asia for the first time at No. 17.
Sri Lankan organisations appeared on the Large Workplaces list for the first time with Diesel and Motor Engineering PLC (No. 24) and HNB Finance Limited (No. 25) being recognised.
The Small and Medium Workplaces List featured 99X Technology Ltd. re-entering at an improved position of No 8. Furthermore, there were 3 new entries from Sri Lanka to the Small and Medium List; Expack Corrugated Cartons Ltd. (No. 18), Softlogic Restaurants Ltd. (No. 19) and Oxford College of Business Ltd. (No. 20).
“The 2019 Best Workplaces in Asia are leading the way with strong values and high inclusivity in creating Great Places to Work For All. We congratulate these companies for their global leadership in building outstanding workplaces that are better for business, better for people, and better for the world.” – Michael C. Bush, CEO Great Place to Work
Among the key findings across Asia’s Best Workplaces it was found that these organisations create an empowering atmosphere for women. In fact, organisations that harness the great thinking and creative ideas from all employees (rather than only select groups) achieve greater levels of innovation and five-and-a-half times the revenue growth. In line with this finding Great Place to Work in Sri Lanka announced that it will be publishing its inaugural list of Best Workplace for Women in Sri Lanka in 2019.
