Google debuts ‘Womenwill’program in Sri Lanka

Google Business Group Colombo (GBG) has announced the launch of #womenwill – aglobal initiative by#Google – inSri Lanka. 

This is a free program for ladies. Open to ladies from all industries (working professionals and entrepreneurs). Google started the ‘Womenwill’ initiative to create economic opportunities for women by connecting them to the online world and tools to make the most of it.

Google started ‘Womenwill’ as a global initiative to help make a difference in bridging gender gaps and empowering women worldwide by focusing their resources, time and technology to erase these gaps. 

Google’s aim is to support and develop programs so women in every market can connect to the information they need and the tools to make the most of it – tohelp them learn, succeed and be heard. There are four program areas where they work to erase gender gaps, based on Google’s mission and where they feel the opportunity for them to have an impact is most significant is digital literacy, entrepreneurship, inclusive workplace and leadership.

‘Womenwill’ is to create economic opportunity for women everywhere so that they can grow and succeed. Helping women make the most of technology to build skills, get inspired and connect with each other through trainings, events and advocacy, they aim to drive conversations promoting gender equality to benefit everyone. This enables women worldwide to connect with like-mindedindividuals and be a part of a global Google community. 

The official ‘Womenwill Sri Lanka’launch event will take place on 7 Aprilat MAS Innovation Centre, Colombo 02 from 9am onwards. This is open to women from all industriesand sectors. ‘Womenwill’ and GBG have played important roles in setting clear objectives, ensuring continued visibility of Google’s commitment to narrow the opportunity gap and empower people to harness the power of technology for growth and innovation. 

GBG (Google Business Group) Colombo has been functioning since 2012 when the program was launched globally and since then have run over 250 events reaching out to over 15000 people in the local IT and business sectors.

GBG is Google’s Community for entrepreneurs and business professionals to come together, build relationships and learn from each other and industry experts, to get inspired and drive business success. GBG is present in over 35 countries with over 150 chapters globally.
