The 4th Annual General Meeting of CEMBA-CEMPA Alumni Association of Open University of Sri Lanka was held on 20 July at Rainbow Banquet, Solis Hotel, Pitakotte. A large gathering comprising of Academic staff of OUSL, CEMBA-CEMPA Past graduates and present students were present at the occasion.

AGM commenced with a speech made by Ministry of Health Deputy Director (General Planning) and Outgoing President Dr. S. Sridharan. He shared the details of the activities carried out during the preceding year. The alumni were able to conduct three Continuous Professional Development seminars. The first was conducted by former Governor of Northern Province Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) GA Chandrasiri on “Strategic and Effective Leadership”. The second seminar was by Sarath Muhthugala on “Governing Policies, Guidelines, and Procedures in Procurement.”

Addressing the gathering, President-Elect Indraka Liyanage emphasized the requirements of an alumni for updating the knowledge and fellowship. OUSL Vice Chancellor Prof. S. A. Ariadurai appraised the work done by the alumni in the past, and was of the positive view that it will keep on the momentum to the future. Speaking at the event, Chief Guest and Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva shared his knowledge in combating the threats to a country by the Navy, and how leadership matters in such decision-making. He also shared the input given by the Sri Lanka Navy in fulfilling the ancillary objectives such as many CSR projects launched under his stewardship.

The event was followed with a fellowship session where members were able to relive the past memories while at the university.
