The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Sri Lanka, the local branch of CMI UK, went beyond its usual agenda and commenced its administrative year for 2020/2021 with a hybrid brainstorming session envisioned and actioned by the newly appointed President Kaushal Rajapakse.

The session titled ‘Crafting the Future’ was led by Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri FCMI. His opening remarks were that the term ‘strategy’ is often confusingly-used, meaning different things to different people and that clarity and commitment is needed in order to formulate and implement strategy.

The newly appointed office bearers and executive committee members joined the session physically and virtually via Zoom. CMI UK APAC Managing Director David Jones joined the session on invitation from Malaysia and CMI immediate Past President Murali Prakash, who is currently out of the country, joined from Sydney, Australia.

The objective of this session, as stated by the President Kaushal Rajapakse, was to develop the way forward to elevate CMI Sri Lanka as an apex body that enhances the skills and knowledge of the management fraternity of the country.

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is the only chartered professional body for management and leadership dedicated to improving managerial skills and enhancing the number of qualified managers in the nation.

It is also the leading authority on management and leadership in the UK. CMI Sri Lanka aims to be the most recognised and respected professional body in the country, providing its members with the latest management thinking and practical support, helping its members gain professional recognition to improve their management skills and progress in their careers.

In association with CMI UK, CMI Sri Lanka facilitates various management programs to support employees in embracing change, creating high performing teams and keeping ahead of the industry curve.
