The theme Sustainability Development Goals Agenda 2030 – The Role of the Professional Accountants of the CMA National Management Accounting Conference 2019 and Commonwealth Accountants Conference is to develop and unify the economic viability, social responsibility and environmental responsibility and to adhere to the principles of sustainability with a duty to fulfil their needs without compromising the ability of future generations.
In September 2015 the world leaders declared their commitment to a path of sustainable development and adopted the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.
The SDG framework has established 17 goals and 169 targets and over the next fifteen years, with these new Goals that universally apply to all, countries will mobilise efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind.
This would also strengthen cooperation between national and international professional accounting and management institutions, with sustainable development uniting the global community and mobilising stakeholders to promote the establishment or strengthening of ties of friendship and solidarity between stakeholders, to promote the SDG agenda. The 2030 Agenda will also provide a new vehicle through which professionals can fulfil their obligations and governments held accountable to their international obligations.
The conference would cover topics relating to sustainable development goals agenda such as good governance, skill development, economic growth, national security, geo political uncertainties, climate change and forest cover, SDG reporting, harnessing Sri Lanka’s human capital, skill development, gender equality, industry innovation and infrastructure, access to banking and finance, affordable, reliable and clean energy, sustainable tourism, emerging technologies, agricultural productivity and sustainable business 2030.
