CIPM Sri Lanka, the nation’s leader in human resource management, has initiated a strategic alliance with the University of Jaffna, the premier higher education institute in the North, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce recently.
The MoU with the University was inked on 22 October at the Jaffna University premises. CIPM President Ken Vijayakumar marked his presence at the event by participating online. Representing CIPM SL and gracing the occasion were Treasurer Col. Saman Jayawickrama, Chief Executive Officer U.A.C. Obesekere and Director of Professional and Academic Affairs G. Weerathunga.
Welcoming the visitors to the Jaffna University and participating in the historic event were Vice Chancellor Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce Dean Prof. B. Nimalathasan, Department of Human Resource Management Head Dr. T. Raveendran, Prof. N. Kengatharan and other academic staff members.
The MoU aims to enhance the development of students in human resources and strengthen the HR fraternity. Towards this goal, both parties will organise webinars, seminars, training and development programmes and workshops while collaborating on research and joint publications, creating awareness regarding the applicability of human resources and its dynamic role in modern society.
Commenting on the strategic alliance, CIPM President Ken Vijayakumar said: “Today, we recognise that enhancing human resource knowledge encompassing both professional and academic programmes is necessary for students to be globally competitive. The strength and reach of our Institute will enable students of the Jaffna University to experience a collaborative environment and scale greater heights in their future careers.”
Supporting the university, CIPM will design programs catering to discerning students and the HR fraternity, thereby upgrading their knowledge in line with emerging global challenges.
Prof. B. Nimalathasan added: “We are extremely pleased to have signed an MoU with CIPM SL, a distinguished organisation in promoting HR practices. Our University will benefit from the high-quality programmes and activities initiated, and we believe it offers a mutually-beneficial relationship. I urge our students to take the maximum opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in HR practices, reaping greater dividends in their future pathways.”
