CIPM Sri Lanka, the nation’s leader in human resource management, has organised the third CIPM Research Symposium on the theme ‘Shifting HRM Paradigms’ at BMICH, Colombo from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday. This serves as a unique forum for HR practitioners, researchers, faculty, and students to present their scholarly contributions.
The third CIPM Research Symposium will consist of an inaugural session with a keynote address by Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development UK (CIPD) Insight and Futures Head Dr. Wilson Wong, a plenary session with renowned HR practitioners, and three parallel technical sessions of HR practitioners, CIPM members, CIPM students, and university students. Publications of over 50 researchers have been successfully processed, and the Symposium proceedings and ‘CIPM HRM Perspectives’ Journal are currently in the process of being published.
“As the nation’s leader in HRM, CIPM focuses on applied research on how we work in order to find out how better we could work, how best work and life could be balanced to achieve more efficient output in a world of work and life which is continually being disrupted by technology, and how we should motivate our workers to give of their best,” said CIPM Sri Lanka President Dhammika Fernando.
“The CIPM Research Symposium is the forum and platform which will motivate HR professionals and researchers in HRM to explore their focus further in order to add value to the understanding of the world of work,” he added.
The Symposium has been redesigned and enhanced for a focused outcome by Symposium Chair and Council Member Dr. Chandana Jayawardena and his team. Over 200 research scholars/practitioners, CIPM members, students, and stakeholders in the field of HRM are expected to participate in the Symposium which has been redesigned to enhance the CIPM research culture to materialise the academic efforts of the HRM fraternity in fulfilling the aspirations of the public at large.
“The CIPM Research Symposium is organised to disseminate research and development findings, creativity and innovations in Human Resource Management (HRM) and related areas for the benefit of students, practitioners, academia, researchers, government and non-government officials and the public. This goal will be achieved through the Research Symposium and developing an annual compilation of publications, making them accessible, transparent, lucid, and defendable. Thus the symposium will provide many opportunities to all CIPM stakeholders to present research findings to an appreciative audience while benefiting each and every participant,” said Dr. Chandana Jayawardena.
The CIPM Research Symposium will present awards to the best research presentations, and posters selected by an eminent Panel of Judges based on scientific merit. The award categories are ‘The Most Promising Research Awards’ which is exclusive to all the authors (paper presenters) of that respective year who are CIPM students (or completed within a year’s time) of any study program, ‘Poster Awards’ for researchers who present their findings through well-designed posters and ‘Scientific Publications Awards’.
Awards for abstracts presented in the CIPM Research Symposium and published in a peer-reviewed journal with a high impact factor within a year who will be given Scientific Publications Awards at the inauguration of the next CIPM Research Symposium to be held in the following year. Research manuscripts will be considered to be published in the CIPM journal ‘HRM Perspectives’ based on merit.
