CFA Society Sri Lanka has embarked on an initiative in Women in Finance to address diversity and inclusion in the finance industry.
A rapidly evolving finance industry demands new capabilities and a more diverse workforce and inclusive workplace culture. While challenges still exist, women are increasingly playing more senior leadership roles across multiple industries. According to a survey carried out by CFA Institute about gender diversity, the study finds that while women continue to make progress within the industry, much more needs to be done to ease the global bottleneck that is preventing their full and equitable advancement within the profession. Further, the report highlights that while women continue to be underrepresented at every level and in finance functions, this disparity could be addressed by focusing on the following key areas:
Providing young women with early exposure to the finance industry in their college years and early career
Emphasising to all investors the positive impact that gender diversity can have on investment performance
Working to bridge the work-life balance gap that disproportionately affects women
Keeping these in mind, four women leaders from the finance industry will engage in a virtual conversation on Thursday 3 March from 5 p.m. sharing their perspectives on their career paths, insights on the changing workplace culture, and opportunities for those looking to build a career in finance.
The panel will comprise of CFA Society Sri Lanka Past President and Independent Director Rachini Rajapaksa CFA, CFA Society Sri Lanka Director and Fitch Ratings Lanka Ltd., Director Corporate Ratings Group Nadika Ranasinghe CFA, PWC Sri Lanka, Manager – Capital Projects and Infrastructure and Deals Strategy Samalka Athuraliya CFA, Uzabase Inc. Group Executive Officer Mifnaz Jawahar CFA and moderated by CFA Society Sri Lanka Director and Stax Inc. Senior Manager Rashmi Peiris Paranavitane CFA.
Starting with this webinar, CFA Society Sri Lanka hopes to launch a series of projects in its mission to promote gender diversity and inclusion within society.
