Acorn Group which encompasses a multitude of leading international brands in the aviation and travel industry takes pride in the leading role played by its female employees across its businesses. There is no better occasion than International Women’s Day to highlight how women make an impactful contribution to the businesses of Acorn. Women make up close to 44% of the Group’s workforce and have been an integral part of the organisation.

Creating a work environment which is conducive to women requires flexibility and workspace ethics which can be fine-tuned to cater to the demands of everyday life. Acorn Group takes pride in being one of the few organisations that not only affords an extended period of maternity leave but has made provision for paternity leave to ensure inclusivity across the board.
Commenting on the success of women in the Group, Acorn Aviation Managing Director Dushy Jayaweera said, “Our company has actively encouraged and groomed our female workforce on their career journey. The increasing numbers in leadership positions of females within our organisation is a result of empowerment and training that has helped to pave the way.” She further stressed, “The global pandemic and the resultant ‘work from home’ has also added pressure to the women in the workforce. However, our female colleagues have taken this in their stride, with innovative ways of doing business also being manifested during the lockdown.”
“Having a voice and being heard, irrespective of your title,” said Acorn Travels Assistant Manager Marketing Nathasha Ekanayake. “We are always encouraged to bring new ideas to the table and take the initiative to execute them with no gender bias. This motivates us to do better, every day.”
