The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) is holding its International Research
Conference for the 11th consecutive year on 13 and 14 September at the university premises in Ratmalana.
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Securing professional excellence through collaboration’. This is a great opportunity for academia, professionals and practitioners as this will be an ideal forum to meet and exchange views in an academic environment.
The KDU conference is enriched with the participation of many local and foreign academics in the fields of Defence and Strategic Studies, Engineering, Medicine, Law, Management, Social Sciences and Humanities, Allied Health Sciences, Built Environment and Spatial Sciences and Computing. Hence individuals from all three armed forces and the Police Department of Sri Lanka are able to present their research at one forum. It is also the only conference which brings together civilian professionals and their military counterparts.
This year too KDU has invited world-renowned scientists to participate in this conference. The inauguration ceremony on 13 September will be graced by keynote speakers Prof. Mohan Munasinghe and Dr. Sarath Gunapala.
Prof. Munasinghe is a renowned professor who shared the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2007. He has won many international prizes and medals for his research and its applications and authored many books and papers. He has also held numerous key national and international positions.
