US officials will decide to extend the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) to Sri Lanka at a hearing on 24 January.

US Department of Commerce Deputy Assistant Secretary for Africa, the Middle East and South Asia Holly Vineyard urged the Sri Lankan government to be present at the hearing and lobby for the GSP to promote trade between the two countries.

On 24 January all the countries that are having their GSP reviewed will be present and a final decision is to be made at this crucial meeting.
