The main opposition United National Party (UNP) has decided to hold its May Day rally this year in Jaffna, the capital city of the Northern Province.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said yesterday that the party would hold the rally together with the major Tamil political party in the country, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and called on other parties to join the rally as well.
The UNP is to focus its rally on the economic mismanagement of the Government and the increase in cost of living.
Attanayake said this year’s May Day rally will be held to mark the end of corruption, terror and suppression.
