The Government has decided to suspend the proposed ban by the police on full face helmets, Public Order Minister John Amaratunga conceded yesterday.
The police had earlier decided to ban full face helmets with effect from 21 March this year in an attempt to curb crime.
The police had said that full face helmets had been used in recent times by criminals when robbing several banks and other financial institutions.
Men with full face helmets have also been involved in other crimes, including murders. (Colombo Gazette)
