Following the successful visit made by the President of Viet Nam Truong Tang Sang and the bilateral relationship strengthened by this visit, a 20-member Sri Lanka business delegation will visit Viet Nam to promote trade between the two nations, focusing on the agriculture, textile, fisheries and apparel sectors.
The delegation will be led by National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka President Asoka Hettigoda. They have scheduled meetings with the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce, Viet Nam Small to Medium Enterprise Association and Ministry of Trade and Investment.
Trade in agriculture machinery, fruits and vegetables, rubber and related products, textile yarn and apparel sectors are to be looked at during the six day tour from 13 to 18 November covering the main cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Representatives of the Department of Commerce, Export Development Board and Board of Investment will also join the tour.
The tour will focus on exploring further opportunities in the tourism trade by increasing the number of Vietnamese tourists to the island, with arrangements for direct flights between the two countries at a final stage.
