TNA, EPDP politicos clash at Jaffna Kachcheri

By N.Parameswaran A clash took place between the TNA and the EPDP at the District Coordinating Committee meeting in Jaffna which was held at the Jaffna Kachcheri yesterday, presided over by Jaffna GA SundaramArumainayagam. During his welcome speech, the GA mentioned the Elections Commissioner’s circular specifying that politics should not be discussed at the meeting. After the NPC CM finished his speech, Douglas Devanandaspoke, followed by after NPC member M.K.Sivajilingam. However when he was speaking, Devananda charged that Sivajilingam was violating the rule. As a result, some EPDP members tried to take Sivajilingam’s mike away, due to which a clash erupted and resulted in several people being injured and mineral water bottles being thrown. The injured from the TNA were P.Iyngaranesan– AgricultureMinister NPC; M.K.Sivajilingam – memberNPC; K.Sarveswarn– member NPC; K.Sivayohan–memberNPC; and K.Sathyalingam. The injured from the EPDP were P.Sivarasa– VelanaiPradeshiyaSabhaChairman; R.Haraharan– ValikamamSouth PradeshiyaSabha Opposition Leader; R.Rangeswaran– VadamaarachchiPradeshiyaSabha Opposition Leader; and S.Rajkumar and S. Kumar – from the Fishermen’sSociety.
