Tiger Airways, Singapore’s leading low-cost carrier, yesterday launched the inaugural direct service between Colombo and Singapore.
TR2572 arrived in Colombo at 2205hrs to mark the first regional low-cost flight between Colombo and Singapore.
With Tiger Airways’ Singapore strong track record – with a near 100% flight completion in 2011, punctuality rate of over 85%, a young fleet of under three years of age, and great value offerings – the airline expects the new service to be well-received by travellers.
“We are focussed on building our network and connectivity in the region. Tiger Airways’ direct service between Colombo and Singapore will provide more options at great value fares for leisure and business travellers,” said Dave Perring, Tiger Airways’ Commercial Director, “Singapore is now a hop away for Sri Lankans wanting to explore the sights and sounds of the garden city. Likewise, the rich history and natural beauty of Sri Lanka is within easy reach.”
Tiger Airways operates a unique low-cost business model that involves removing non-essential costs, ensuring that customers pay only for what they actually need, while maintaining the highest standard of safety, security and punctuality.
Tiger Airways operates the service three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Tiger Airways’ appointed General Sales Agent is MAC Aviation Services Private Ltd.
Tiger Airways is one of Asia’s leading low-cost carriers. Established in September 2004, the airline has steadily grown its fleet to 34 A320 aircraft with an average age of under three years. It also has two A319s that are operated independently by SEAir in the Philippines under a partner airline programme.
The airline will build its fleet to 68 aircraft by December 2015. Operating from Singapore and Australia, Tiger Airways’ network extends to over 30 destinations across 12 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
Tiger Airways is committed to offering customers great value fares while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security and reliability.
