The third two-day Halal Expo will open in Colombo on Sunday heralding a new dimension to the country’s business and service industry.
Originally began in 2010, the Halal Expo, has become an annual event on account of demand and success as first of its kind in Sri Lanka. Encompassing all the stakeholders the event at Galadari Hotel from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday (20 February) provides a forum to network and to showcase their products and services at a single event.
Organised by UTO EduConsult Ltd., the Expo also provides the companies with a platform to increase their visibility to the Halal-conscious segment of the population whilst also reinforcing the message that Halal products could be availed of by all, irrespective of ethnicity or religion.
The Halal concept has cut a wide swath across a plethora of industries globally. Companies that offer Halal products and services across a wide spectrum have witnessed tremendous growth.
Industries such as banking and finance, tourism, food and beverages, apparel and cosmetics have all been exposed to this phenomenon. It also seems to have transcended all barriers, with the Halal sector no longer the exclusive domain of Muslim-owned companies or that of countries with a predominantly Islamic population.
The concept of “Halal” is now playing a pivotal role in the decision making process of many companies in several sectors. This is mainly due to the inexorable increase in the demand for such products from what has become a significant segment of global market.
The event, will see behemoths in the food industry, such as Krest, Cargills, Maliban, Unilever and Elephant House, showcase their array of products.
The event will also include an innovative cookery demonstration by a renowned chef courtesy of Roza Pasta and attendees at the event will be given the opportunity to sample a wide variety of other products from the plethora of exhibitors.
Discerning consumers looking for exceptional bargains and discounts would also be catered for, with the exhibitors and sponsors hoping to offer their products at sharply discounted prices.
