Sutheash Balasubr-amaniam, a top official with high expertise both locally and internationally in the administrative sector, assumed duties as the new Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), with effect from 2 November.
Subramaniam, who holds an MBA from the University of Warwick, England, and also a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Value Chains from University of Cambridge, is also a fellow of the Charted Institute of Management Accountants, UK. He started his administrative journey as an accountant at the CIC Holdings PLC, and has shown his exemplary skills as an administrator at numerous local and international companies since then.
From 1989 to 1991, he continued his way to the top as a Management Accountant at the Hayleys Consumer and Engineering Sector Companies, also as a Group Budget Controller/Strategy, Long Range Planning Unit, Hayleys PLC, 2004-2008, Director, Kalupahana Hydropower Company Ltd., 1996-2008, General Manager, Business Development, Kelani Valley Plantations PLC from 2009-2014, Director/CEO, Hayleys Business Solutions International Ltd., 2016, Local Partner of SSA Business Solutions Ltd., Mumbai (leading boutique management consultancy), 2015 to date Co-Founder, Global Strategies Corporate Sustainability Ltd.; 2012 to date: Sri Lanka Network Representative, UN Global Compact (world’s largest corporate sustainability network).
He is highly reputed as a representative in professional and international bodies, such as being a council member of CIMA Sri Lanka Division from 2003-2008, serving as the first Chairman of the reconstituted Sri Lanka Governance Board of the CIMA – UK, committee member of ICT/BPO sector of EDB, having served on the Governing Council of the NIBM, in 2010, and also serving as a committee member of the Integrated Reporting Council of Sri Lanka up to date.
