SriLankan Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena told media that the discussions are ongoing and that the company planned to invest US$ 14 million and expected a return of US$ 100 million. The joint venture will carry out repair and maintenance work for narrow-body aircrafts such as Airbus A320 and Boeing 737. “We want to leverage on Lufthansa’s expertise. What we are hoping to establish is a standard maintenance, repair and overhaul facility such as what they have in other parts of the world then entice other international airlines to come to Sri Lanka. The facility will have four hangars and we are hoping that it will begin operations by July 2014.”
