The highly successful six-month commercial contract through which SriLankan Airlines ‘wet leased’ an Airbus A330-300 aircraft on a Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) basis with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been completed following a flawless operation throughout the duration of the period of the contract.
SriLankan Airlines CEO Captain Suren Ratwatte said: “This contract was the most profitable commercial agreement undertaken by SriLankan in the recent past.
It has helped to uplift the bottom line of the company at a time when we are facing significant challenges in our efforts to transform the financial fortunes of our airline and return it to profitability. The management of SriLankan Airlines wishes to thank all our staff who were involved in making this project a success for their commitment, flexibility and professionalism.”
“This ACMI helped our partner PIA to enhance the product offered and launch the Premier Service brand on the key Pakistan to London service. It also served to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations. We look forward to further commercial agreements with PIA and thank them for the opportunity,” added Captain Ratwatte.
The aircraft will rejoin the SriLankan fleet after it is repainted in our livery within the next couple of weeks.
