Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) triumphed at the 2010/11 Vision Awards Annual Report Competition to win a Gold Award in the Telecommunications Sector.
Organised by the League of American Communication Professionals (LACP), SLT was also placed 19th overall in the Top 100 Worldwide Rank of this much-coveted global annual report competition.
SLT is the first listed Sri Lankan company to be in the ‘top 20’ of the Global LACP Vision Awards.
SLT CEO Greg Young commenting on this accolade said: “We are proud to win the Gold award at the 2010/11 Vision Awards Annual Report Competition and to be placed within the top 20 of the 100 companies ranked globally. This honour is doubly significant because the SLT annual report was pitted against several participating Fortune 500 companies. This year’s competition attracted more than 5,000 entries representing over 24 countries, and was a very formidable competition.
“SLT would like to thank our media partner, Emagewise (Pvt) Ltd., for creatively expressing our vision for the annual report with such high standards. “The annual report is a company’s most powerful communications tool, delivering to our stakeholders valuable insights into the company operations and performance. SLT maintains strict corporate governance and enterprise risk management practices and reports this to our stakeholders through our annual reporting process which is on par with those of the best corporate institutions in the world.”
Furthermore, the competition attracted one of the largest numbers of submissions ever, representing a broad range of industries and organisational sizes. Materials were judged in peer-level competitions and SLT was able to surpass some of the more prominent telecommunications companies around the globe in the quality of its annual report.
LACP was established in 2001 in order to create a forum within the public relations industry that facilitates discussion of best-in-class practices within the profession, while also recognising those who demonstrate exemplary communications capabilities.
