Sri Lanka and the Netherland are to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) providing security for its commercial ships operating off the coast of Somalia.
Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal by President Maithripala Sirisena to sign the MoU between the Ministries of Defence of the two countries.
The Government of Netherland has requested Sri Lanka to provide the services of the Sri Lanka Navy for the Netherland Navy brigade serving in Indian Ocean off Somali coast on a payment basis.
