Bangalore: Gully cricket, a casual form of the game, which has produced many cricketing geniuses in the country, now finds space in spin legend Shane Warne’s very own apparel line.
The Australian spin sensation who was in the city to battle the Royal Challengers, found time to launch his apparel brand ‘Spinners by Shane Warne’ in an exclusive retail partnership with Reliance Trends.
“The range draws inspiration from India in its use of bright colours like green and purple,” said Warne, skipper of the Rajasthan Royals IPL team. There is also a range of shirts inspired by street cricket in India, added Arun Sirdeshmukh, Chief Executive, Reliance Trends.
Warne is involved in the designing of the Spinners range.
The brand marked its entry into the country with the launch of a limited edition collection of men’s T-shirts for the IPL season, with prices starting at Rs. 399.
The prices have been tailored for the Indian market and they are being manufactured in the country itself, said Sirdeshmukh.
The complete range of men’s and boys’ active-wear will be launched in the festive season, followed by sports performance wear, boys’ and girls’ apparel range, innerwear and accessories in the future.
Spinners by Warne — a partnership between Warne and an Australian brand development company Lime Door Brands — was launched in November 2009 in Australia and has sold a million units since then.
The UK is the next destination for the brand.
