A unique sectoral focus involving a top panel of 10 industry experts and findings of an opinion poll are key draws at the Daily FT-Colombo University MBA Alumni Association co-organised post-Budget 2012 seminar tomorrow (24 November) from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo.
Presence of and responses to post-Budget reactions and queries by Chief Guest Treasury Secretary Dr. P. B. Jayasundera is another key attraction.
The line-up of top private sector leaders who will feature on a panel includes Brandix CEO Ashroff Omar, Access Engineering Chairman Sumal Perera, DIMO Chairman Ranjith Pandithage, Expolanka Holdings Group CEO Hanif Yusoof, Yarlpanam Chamber of Commerce Chairman K. Poornachandran, Aitken Spence Hotel Sector Head Malin Hapugoda, Aitken Spence Director and Head of Business Development and Plantations Dr. Rohan Fernando, SLASSCOM President and John Keells Holdings Vice President Sujiva Devaraja and APIIT City Campus CEO Dr. Athula Pitigala Arachchi.
Gajma and Company Partner and specialist N. R. Gajendran will focus on tax issues of Budget 2012, whilst Colombo University Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance Prof. H.D. Karunaratne will provide an economist’s perspective. The 2012 Budget presented by President and Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday has been widely welcomed, though some have expressed reservations. At tomorrow’s seminar, all speakers are likely to give greater clarity or emphasis to diverse opinions. The event will also reveal the findings of a public opinion poll on Budget 2012, (see Page 2 for poll) in addition to enabling seminar participants to have their say as well.
Premier blue chip John Keells Holdings and national telecom carrier Sri Lanka Telecom are strategic partners for this unique post-Budget seminar, participation at which is by prior registration.
