Lallith Ramanayake, who headed the plantation sector of John Keells, has retired after having served 39 years in the company, while Sanjeeva Fernando has been appointed to the Board of Directors of John Keels Plc from 2 January.
Ramanayake has also resigned from the Board of Tea Smallholder Factories, to which Fernando has been appointed.
Fernando has 24 years of management experience, 17 of which have been in the group. He is responsible for the IT industry group, which includes software operations, office automation and the group’s Business Process Outsourcing business spanning India, Sri Lanka, Canada and the USA.
Fernando joined the group in 1993 to head the printing and packaging business and went on to be Chief Executive Officer of Lanka Marine Services in 2002 at the time of its acquisition from the Government.
Before this assignment he was the Sector Head of the Transportation Sector. He is a printer by profession, having qualified from the London School of Printing, and is a member of the London Institute of Printing.
