Top professional Sagarika Delgoda has been appointed as the Chairperson of Hotel Developers (Lanka) Plc., the owning company of Hilton Colombo. She replaces the influential Tirukumar Nadesan. The appointment was made by Finance Minister Ravi Karunananayake under whose purview the Hotel Developers comes under. Delgoda holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) 2nd Upper, Political Science and Government from the University of Peradeniya. She was previously the Sri Lankan representative of the German funded Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Fredrick Neumann Foundation (FNF) until 2013 before she was baselessly accused by the previous regime of conspiring to topple the then Government. In May 2013, the then Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe in Parliament raised serious concerns over the arrest of Friedrich Delgoda by Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for “organising a workshop for the United National Party”. The NGO also helped in financing the printing of the book “Politics and Religion” written by the UNP Leader in 2013. When Ravi Karunanayake was the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs in early 2000s, Delgoda was appointed as a member of the Consumer Affairs Authority under the chairmanship of Sitha Wimalasena.
