Revelation from sacred city was best fit: MR

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday declared that the revelation of the discovery of natural gas in the country from the sacred city of Kandy was the best fit for the breakthrough.

Addressing local Government officials and people from Kandy, the President said he was happy to inform of the gas discovery in the country from a sacred city where the Sacred Tooth Relic reposes.

“I was informed on Sunday morning that those working on drilling wells for gas and petrol have found one well with gas. This is something the country should know and to say it from a sacred city is the best,” President Rajapaksa told the meeting. He said that there was an agreement that they should inform the Government as soon as they found gas or petrol, since there are three more blocks in Mannar which have been earmarked for petrol on which the experts are working.
